Representing Hip-Hop since he was an infant, Kev always showed interest in music throughout his young life. In 2004 when he graduated high school, Kev began saving to buy his first MPC by working as a valet on the weekends. Within two months Da Khemist acquired the first piece of his arsenal. Soon after, he began studying Recording Engineering at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. At MI he learned about the dying art of analog recording and what it means to be an engineer.
In 2005 he began interning at a local studio called H.I.P. (Hit Instinct Productions). There he met DJ MoDav & Spinderella, assisting while they recorded their syndicated radio show "The Spin Cycle". The experience with the two prominent DJ's expanded Kev's view of Hip-Hop music. After a year with H.I.P. Kev departed to begin focusing on his own recording studio. Once the "Black Box" was finished, Kev was able to further perfect his skills behind the boards and begin to experiment on the microphone.
In May 2006, Kev got an offer to work with Hood Surgeon (Dr.Dre's son) as his in-house engineer at So Hood Records. There he met his future Track Addicts production partners Phenom & EMac, as well as his first artist, Young B The Future. During his tenure at So Hood, Da Khemist put together the "So Hood Family Tree Vol. 1 & 2" released in December 2006, as well as recording artists such as Paypa, Wyze Randal & Kyla Yu.
By the spring of 2007 the Track Addicts began their 18 month journey/grind of recording and releasing Young B's debut album. What started as 15 tracks became 60 and from that the best 18 birthed the classic, "Expected To Lose". August 8th 2008 marked the date the Track Addicts exposed the world to their quality, talent and limitless capacity as a production powerhouse.
While recording "Expected To Lose", Da Khemist was working on his self-produced political album as T.W.I.N.E. (The World Is Not Enough). His controversial & mind altering project "Total Information Awareness" is available on itunes.
In June of 2009 Kev released "In Tha LAb", his official instrumental album. Created as an ode' to Los Angeles and it's ever evolving sound, Da Khemist drops 24 bangers all creating the perfect soundtrack for his hometown. "In Tha LAb" is available on itunes or major online retailer.
